Simone Tippett is Union St Printmakers. She teaches printmaking classes and workshops at Stone & Quoin Studio at 6 Manton St Hindmarsh, as well as in a private classroom in Stepney. 

Techniques:

  • Low-toxic intaglio processes – drypoint, etching, monoprints/monotypes, collagraphs, chine colle, etc.

  • Low-toxic relief processes – lino printing, woodcuts, wood engravings, collagraphs, embossing, photopolymer, Japanese woodblock, etc.

  • Low-toxic stencilling & screen printing – DIY kitchen table techniques, screenprinting with hand cut stencils, screenprinting with drawing/masking fluid, screen monoprinting, UV screenprinting, screenprinting with rubylith, beginners repeat pattern textile printing, etc.

  • Other low-toxic print processes - waterless lithography, gelli printing, printing-without-a-press, etc.

Workshops & Intensives

Simone runs intensive printmaking workshops on demand. The workshops are ideal for beginners, more experienced printmakers and experimenting with different techniques. Everyone has different interests and levels of skills, so it is no matter whether you are a beginner or more experienced. Workshops are always tailored to the needs and experience of the participants. Certificates of Completion are available for teachers.

General workshop information

  • The workshops usually run 10am-4pm.

  • Sundays or Tuesdays at Stone & Quoin Studio in Hindmarsh.

  • Now taking advance bookings through out 2019 and into 2020.

  • Workshop sizes vary from 1-4 people (screenprinting) to 1-6 people (other techniques).

  • Cost ~$180 per person, discounted to $150 if you’ve been a UStP student within the past 12 months. (Workshops planned prior to 1 July 2019 are available at the earlier rate.)

  • Masterclasses and Guest Print Workshops may be organised or priced slightly differently to regular workshops, so please check individual workshop flyers for details.

  • All materials, excellent notes, morning tea and a delicious lunch are provided.

  • The workshops are intimate and designed to suit your needs.

  • The workshop always goes ahead, even if only 1 person is booked in :)

Simone also runs onsite workshops for schools and studios. She has a portable workshop press and can provide the equipment and materials for whichever workshop you require. To date, she has run onsite printmaking workshops for the Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide Writers Week, the State Library of South Australia (the Centre of Democracy), the South Australian Museum, Prospect Gallery, Pembroke School, Bittondi Printmaking Association, the Friends of the Botanic Gardens Art GroupVicarious Press in Willunga, Quick Whippet Studio in Pt Elliot, Gallery 1855 at Tea Tree Gully,  Thumbprint Press in Mount Gambier and the Curdnatta Art Group in Port Augusta.

Please note: Union St Printmakers closes for regular classes Christmas through January each year. During this time, Simone editions prints on demand and hosts specialist workshops. Throughout, the information on this website (including information about future workshops) is updated daily and weekly.

The last casual classes for 2019 are Saturday 14 December in Stepney and Monday 16 December in Hindmarsh.

Each year, casual classes restart from the first Saturday and Monday in February … Saturday 1 February 2020 in Stepney and Monday 3 February 2020 in Hindmarsh.
